I HATE YAHOO NEW MAIL

I’m sorry yahoo. I’ve been a yahoo user ever since but their classic ymail is already great. they just need to build on top of it and not revamp it like the monstrosity that is new-ymail. I hate it so much!

with the force of a thousand suns! so much rage!

anyway and because of that here is a guide how to reverse your decision (yes, once you clicked upgrade to new yahoo mail, you will have a HELL of an experience and would have a very hard time trying to revert back to classic!)

anecdote: short story first before I post the solutions. I tried to email yahoo help so maybe they can change the system on their side… NO GOOD man! they told me they would need TWO BUSINESS DAYS to reverse the process. WHAT? seriously man.

so yeah here’s the solutions (yes there are multiple solutions)

1. Yahoo has a new Help page with a direct link to switching back to Classic Mail! This Help page link and solution are new, and a permanent change.
http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/ym…

At the end of the second paragraph, click either [click here] IN BLUE or [No thanks. Continue to Yahoo Mail Classic]

2. Use one of the following links each time you open your mail - save the Bookmark as a Favorite. Use them every time you visit Yahoo Mail, and you will get the Classic version! (If your account is registered in another country other than the US, the links should be changed to your country abbreviation. For example, change the ‘us’ and/or the ‘.com’ portions of the links)

http://mrd.mail.yahoo.com/switchclassic
http://us.mc598.mail.yahoo.com/mc/welcom…
http://us.mc598.mail.yahoo.com/mc/launch

but usually as soon as you access the classic page it would be permanent and you wont need to see the new ymail again (until of course you accidentally click the upgrade now link, so please don’t!).

cheers!

How to search for images

can also be “how can I search for this girl’s photo” or “additional stalking skills you can use”

don’t get what I mean? listen on!

Image search is a specialized data search used to find images. To search for images, a user may provide query terms such as keyword, image file/link, or click on some image, and the system will return images “similar” to the query. The similarity used for search criteria could be meta tags, color distribution in images, region/shape attributes, etc.

  • Image meta search - search of images based on associated metadata such as keywords, text, etc.
  • Content-based image retrieval (CBIR) – the application of computer visionto the image retrieval. CBIR aims at avoiding the use of textual descriptions and instead retrieves images based on similarities in their contents (textures, colors, shapes etc.) to a user-supplied query image or user-specified image features.
    • List of CBIR Engines - list of engines which search for images based image visual content such as color, texture, shape/object, etc.

source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image_search

The point of this exercise is to be able to search the web for IMAGES given a sample image file. Now imagine the things you can do when you have a picture of a girl you like, search it thru the web, find her facebook…..

yeah you know ;)

anyway here are some famous sites that have this ability:

here’s an example on how this is done:

here are some applications that I can think of:

  • of course, stalking
  • researching of similar photos
  • if you’re trying to clean your internet identity
  • looking for stock photos

well that’s all for me today!

The Walking Dead Season 2

I am a BIG FAN of Zombies… so yeah!

The second season premiered on October 16, 2011 and will feature 13 episodes.[4][5] At a 2011 Paley Center for Media panel,[6] it was announced that the second season will feature Grimes’ group of survivors leaving Atlanta for the countryside, including the Greene family farm, a setting in the comic book series.[7] Filming of season 2 began in June 2011 in the greater Atlanta area.[8] Prior to the start of season 2, a 6-part webisode series aired October 3, 2011 on AMC’s website. The webisodes detail the events just when the outbreak began, specifically the life of Hannah, also known as “bicycle girl”, who appeared in the first episode of the series.[9]

The Walking Dead is an American post-apocalyptic horror television series developed for television by Frank Darabont and based on the ongoing comic book series, The Walking Dead, by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore and Charlie Adlard.[1] The series centers on a small group of survivors led by Sheriff’s Deputy Rick Grimes and his family.

The series premiered on October 31, 2010, and is broadcast on the cable television channel AMC in the United States.[2]

The first season premiered to universal acclaim and was nominated for several awards, including the Best Television Series Drama at the 68th Golden Globe Awards.[3] Based on its reception, AMC renewed the series for a second season of 13 episodes which premiered on October 16, 2011.[4][5]

Things Columbus did (sort of)

1. Proved the world was round. What he really wanted to do was find an alternate route through the West Indies. Of course the main goal was land, gold and better trade routes for the spice trade (cue “Dune” intro). Of course this isn’t true as at least 2000 years ago people (of course scientists) were already able to calculate that the world isn’t flat and ends in a never ending water fall. 2. Discovered (at least for Europeans) America. He isn’t really the first guy to discover it. It’s more of he’s the guy who stayed and colonized everything else. His arrival also caused a number of genocides and enslavements (which also resulted in his eventual arrest) of American natives but this of course resulted in a massive increase of technology and industrial revolution of the growing country. 3. Helped the spread of Christianity Of course this isn’t necessarily all credited to him but with all of his exploration, colonization and settlements, He brought priests with him who converted non believers. Which is a typical tactic of Spain when converting locals to their cause (as is the case of what they did to the Philippines). 4. Discovered different routes and island Bahamas, North America, Puerto Rico, Navidad, South America, Jamaica, Guanaja Island, Honduras in Central America, and Haiti. These islands he tried to colonize and of course send gold and trade back to Spain. 5. Credited with Rastafari Movement Given that Columbus is an early colonizer of the western islands, he became one of the symbols of a European oppressor. Rastafari is a religious movement that started at around 1930s that are descendants of slaves (that were probably enslaved by Columbus a long time ago). source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christopher_Columbus ~ a lifetime supply of spice and world peace

Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish

let me begin with a quote:

“Only as high as I reach can I grow, only as far as I seek can I go, only as deep as I look can I see, only as much as I dream can I be.” - Karen Ravn

at 17 - he dropped out of college just after a semester
at 21 - he started Apple together with Wozniak
at 27 - they hit their first billion
at 30 - he got fired by the company he built
at 42 - he got hired again by apple to be interim CEO (but not after creating NeXT and Pixar, became a board member of Disney, among others)
at 55 - he produced the iPod, iPad, and Itunes which literally created millions of new jobs AND competitors.

He didn’t graduate in college. His parents weren’t graduates either. He got fired by a company he himself built and was criticized by the world due to his incredible work practices. He got cancer, survived it, and still went on to change the IT computing world we know today.

“I was worth over $1,000,000 when I was 23, and over $10,000,000 when I was 24, and over $100,000,000 when I was 25, and it wasn’t that important because I never did it for the money.”

I am a firm believer of living your life to the fullest. Even alive he was truly inspirational. Now he left a legacy for all of us, not only the IT folks, but also for everyone else to look up to. Because I believe that is what has been lacking for a long time for us youth. The proper role models to follow in their footsteps. Someone to truly inspire us and tell that hey you don’t need to be this or that or to have a degree on whatever and be genius in whichever. You just need the heart and the passion to pursue what you want and never give up.

Do everything in your power and when he says everything he means that even if you get cancer or get  fired or be criticized by people. Even if you think you reached your limits, break them and see how far still you can go. Every step counts, every inch matters, every win that you can take cherish it and every loss an investment that when you look back you can tell yourself “hey i’ve gone so far, yet i can still go on”. If you believe it, then go for it.

“Here’s to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes… the ones who see things differently — they’re not fond of rules… You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can’t do is ignore them because they change things… they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.” – Think Different, narrated by Steve Jobs

Cheers to you Steve!

on a sidenote: i’m really sad that he passed away. This guy has been one of my idols for a long time. and I really LOVE watching his keynotes. His charisma is amazing. I’ll post one of my favorites here the “one more thing” you can go ahead and search for others but yeah.

How to Mass Click Checkboxes

How to Mass Click Checkboxes

AND

How to Mass delete Multiply posts

The thing is with Multiply is that they really just stopped developing their CMS on a personal social networking perspective and focused on what they really sold on, which is instant online store. What they didn’t realize is that they DO still have a lot of users who still prefer their site versus Facebook or Tumblr or Blogger or any other blogging/multimedia dumpsite available on the net.

Which REALLY makes it frustrating for the users because there are STILL a lot of stupid or missing features such as managing your posts ie. mass delete, update, publish etc- which of course Wordpress does wonderfully.

Now to continue with our predicament, 1) we need to delete Multiply posts 2) There’s too many 3) only one way to delete them in Multiply as illustrated below.

STEP 1: Go to Media Locker and click Blog Entries to list down your entries

STEP 2: You need to select EACH post and then CLICK DELETE. NO SELECT ALL

SOLUTION: If you use Mozilla Firefox (If you don’t, you should) it has a great feature called Add-ons which is basically a set of customizable extension. The magical bean we’ll be using is amazingly called CheckFox (click to download and install add-on).

STEP 3: After you’ve installed the add-on you need to restart Firefox.Go ahead and select those damned check boxes  and right click.

STEP 4: Say the Magic word and click!

(optional) STEP 5: you can also un-check (sarcasm)

STEP 6: click DELETE

There you go! I hope I helped you guys here. There’s probably a bajillion other ways to use this neat add-on on other websites. Post them if you like or suggest other things I missed on fixing this issue.

and may you be troubled by check boxes no more!
